The successful candidate for the position will support the Chief Operations Officer in driving the development of our business process and facilities and will have the opportunity to play a key role in the development of our business.


Operations Manager Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Using and improving company systems for accounting, projects and office management, including Quickbooks Online, BQE firm management software, and others as needed.
  • Organizing and writing office operations and procedures; preparing expense reports; preparing payroll; accounts payable/receivable; controlling correspondence; designing file systems (virtual and physical).
  • Defining procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records/reports.
  • Maintains office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurement.
  • Designs and implements office policies by establishing standards and procedures.
  • Coordinates IT, facilities, internet and other related contractor relationships.
  • Keeps management informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports; summarizing and identifying trends.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees & contractors.
  • Maintains staff job results by maintaining employee review systems, working with managers to ensure compliance and timeliness.
  • Assists with Local, State, and Federal business programs and reporting that KiloNewton participates in.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Plan parties, company events and other employee rewards to celebrate accomplishments.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Operations Manager Skills and Requirements

  • Integrity and enthusiasm.
  • Self-motivated and able to operate effectively in a small, fast-moving team.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with computers and office software, including MS Office & Quickbooks.
  • 5+ years managing and/or maintaining a professional office environment desired.
  • Experience with renewable energy, solar, engineering fields desired.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; comfortable leading technical conversations with PEs.
  • Organized and process-oriented—systems discipline, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with solar project development or engineering is a meaningful plus.
